When things don't work out...

I'm showing you a page that will go into my album but will not, as I initially intended, be submitted to a challenge. Sassy Scrappers have the most divine mood board challenge of gold, black, teal and sequins. But, alas, it wasn't meant to be. I started the page twice and then cut up the second page to try and minimise the mess I made.

July Moodboard Challenge

And this is what I came up with....

The initial background page was not quite the right colour so that was removed. Then out came the dreaded Bombay black India Ink. Grrrr... I hated it so much I cut away the middle section where my main layout resided and stuck it down to another background paper. Of course I attempted the ink again (I learn my lessons the hard way) and I still didn't like how it turned out.

The only think that I'm proud of is the embellishment I made - the mason jar stamped on vellum, filled with glitter and then stitched closed.

Me defined....

Yes, I scrapped my cuppa. Why not? There's a bit of a story to it though. My little girl imitated to me one day. She wrapped her hands around a cup and pretended to blow on a hot cup of coffee. "I'm mum, with my cuppa". These are the moments I want to remember.

I couldn't resist playing along with Jot Magazine's mood board challenge this month. The colours were gorgeous.

And here's my take on it. I enjoyed dipping into a bit of mixed media again. (But I'm still being a little hesitant - I have an unopened Bombay Black India Ink waiting for me and I'm too scared to use it!)

The foodie in me

I enjoyed putting this page together for 123 Challenge blog. One reason being I love food!

I remember this particular day being a really great one. Have you ever thought 'I should never have left the house'. Those times happen sometimes with kids! But this day was perfect. A day at the beach followed by a very scrumptious lunch at a nearby cafe.

This was my take on the challenge. Simple Stories papers seem to be the perfect selection for a bright layout.

{Scrapbook Page} The Pasta Maker

So I've wrapped up my entry for SBM Masters 2014 and sent it off via snail mail. My craft space was a disaster zone but I had lots of fun creating the four pieces. You still have time if you're thinking about entering. Go here for details.

I received my goodies from D-Lish Scraps for winning one of the challenges during their birthday celebrations and cyber crop. Awesome stuff!!

Now that things are a little settled, I've managed another challenge over at 123 Get Scrappy. I enjoyed creating my own design but with the colours selected from their July board.

I went with the middle column - Orange, Yellow and Gold. And finally scrapped my mother cooking. As I get older, these moments, like watching my mother make her amazing pasta, means a lot to me. It's great to record these moments creatively.

{Scrapbook Page} Good Times

I've been busy with a few things away from the blog. I have finally finished a piece for publication as well as working very hard on my submission for Scrapbooking Memories Masters 2014. This is my first time and I'm having a lot of fun. I have set high expectations for myself but I will be happy to actually get something in by the deadline. A couple of the tasks are a big challenge for me!

The month is coming to an end very quickly so I thought I'd get in on a few challenges. The first being an awesome patterns/mood board over at Berry71Bleu. The challenge is to take three patterns from the mood board for your page.

And this is my take. I love sewing onto my pages so when I saw the circles in the mood board I imagined paper garlands.

D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & birthday celebration #8

This is it! I completed EIGHT challenges for the D-Lish Scraps celebrations. I did enjoy trying out new things and going for it on the page. Sometimes you just need to glue it down!

The final challenge was to use a technique by the lovely Karyn.

And this is what I came up with. Lizzy is always encouraging me to have a go with mixed media. She did mention this particular technique (as well as using bubble wrap, which is next on my list of things to try) so away I went.

I used D-Lish Scraps wood veneers. I also used a very pretty Studio Calico sticker sheet.

D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #7

This is my second to last challenge in the D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop and 5th birthday celebration.

I used a bit of mixed media with this colour challenge - some stenciling, gesso and spray mist, ribbon and fabric.

Wendy's choice of colours were lovely.

And this was my take on it. I used D-Lish Scraps tickets, bow, twine, wood veneer and resin butterfly.

{Scrapbook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #6

I'm heading into the tail end of this is amazing ride. It's the first cyber crop I've participated in and I've gone mad with the scrapping. I've managed to overcome my fear of Kraft paper in all this madness which is a relief because I have another 25 sheets of Kraft waiting for me!

I also recently reorganised my craft space (as it is limited). I'm forever reorganising, trying to find ways that work for me. Recently, I reused old manila folders for my letter stickers and placed them all in a binder. This awesome Giddy4scrapping video on youTube shows you how.

Onto D-Lish Scraps Challenge #6 (Two more and I'm done!)

This was a fun scrap bingo by the delightful Ros.

I chose the bottom row - wood veneer, banner, more than one photo, twine and polka dot.

One of my recent purchases was the most gorgeous letter stickers by Simple Stories - they are a woodgrain but each letter is slightly different, which gives it an amazing effect. I wrote directly onto the page which I don't normally do - I usually type or write on a journal spot.

I've used D-Lish Scraps buttons, flair and washi.

I hope you are enjoying (and not getting annoyed by) the constant posts :) I know I'm having fun!

{Scrapbook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #5

So I'm putting myself out there. Oh well, why not?! I used a selfie for Leanne's challenge. I used my newly-acquired face stencil from TCW and applied Close To My Heart inks instead of sprays. I'm not great with sprays :/

I've never used a recipe before so this was insanely difficult for me.

But here's what I came up with. These challenges encourage me to try new things and to think differently for every page I create.

I used D-Lish Scraps washi, flair, paperclip and resin flowers for this page.

{Scrapbook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebrations #4

I finished the day with one more layout. I don't often scrap big events as much as I used to - the birthdays and Christmas days don't get my creative juices going as much as the everyday does. I think what drives me is that fact that twenty years from now, I hope someone in our family take out these books and go 'Oh really? We used to do that?!' Most people remember a birthday celebration but it's the everyday stuff that may be forgotten...

Here's another challenge completed. It's a mood board by Agnus. I love a good mood board :)

And here's my take on it. I overcame the problem of not having the right shades of washi by mixing in some ribbon. And I do have a lot of ribbon.

My recent Blue Bazaar kit came with mini pom poms and I thought 'What on earth do I do with these?' Well, here they are!

I've used D-Lish Scraps washi, journal tag and twine.

{Scrapbook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #3

Okay, so this cyber crop business is crazy but fun. My third page for today and so far, all three have been completely different from one another. This challenge is all about flowers and of course there's nothing like a cluster of pretty flowers for my little girl!

This is Alz's challenge:

And here's my take on it...

The background is a gorgeous Glitz Design paper and the pink-striped paper is from WRM. It has a bubblegum shade of pink which I love. Lots of flowers come from D-Lish Scraps as well the chevron bag and bow.

{Scrapbook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #2

On to challenge #2 over at D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop this weekend. I'm going mad and my craft table is getting messier and messier. The good thing about the cyber crop is that I'm not so afraid of getting things stuck down onto the page. Just going with the flow!

Challenge #2 is using a sketch by Kylie.

And here's my take on it. I loved using the dark blues and kraft on this page. And it's always nice to do a more masculine page every now and again! I will add soon a small journal entry for the kraft pocket behind the photo.

I used D-Lish Scraps Kraft bags, buttons, washi tape and paperclip.

{Scrpabook Page} D-Lish Scraps Cyber Crop & Celebration #1

Hi everyone! I'm joining in on my first cyber crop this weekend over at D-Lish Scraps. Owner Amanda is celebrating 5 years with her awesome business and lots of fun to be had right now!

I've completed my first challenge - a scraplift by the very talented Tarrah.

I'm having a great time with the change to 8.5x11 size layouts and this is what I came up with. I've lifted Tarrah's clean lines, layering and pretty close to the sketch of her page.

I used D-Lish scraps washi and wood veneers.
