Scrapping the simple things

Okay, so the amount of scrapbooking I've done in the last month is exceptional! I'm really happy that I've spent time on this very therapeutic activity :)

The following two layouts definitely go along with how I like things - in grid-like order. Don't judge me ;)

The first layout documents my love for baking. It heavily focuses on the schools snacks and lunches and I've listed some of the goodies that I make for my kids.

The second layout uses one of MANY photos I have my two lying on the floor. When my daughter was a baby, my son spent a lot of time next to her. A simple sentiment but worthy of documenting I think.

I used a gorgeous vellum piece that says 'Live in the moment' over a piece of patterned paper. I think the phrase is very fitting for this page as kids do remind us that we need to live in the moment more often, just like they do.

Jot Magazine challenge

I'm back with another challenge. Jot Magazine have a very bright mood board this month with the likes of oranges and turquoise gorgeousness :)

And this is what I came up with....

Mind you, I had a major accident with a Heidi Swapp mist that spilled over my page and the floor and everything else...So the page is a little different to my original idea since I had to hide the accident!

I added some contrast stitching in black all over the page.

I thought it was fitting to add some florals and a butterfly to my garden-themed page. When it comes down to it, the page is very simple but I loved how it came out.

I added this gorgeous cut file I bought from the Silhouette shop. Since then, I've done a lot of experimenting with my Cameo and now I can recreate this cut file! I understand more about working with text - welding text and creating compound paths. I'm so happy about that. It was super fun to do.

Thanks for popping by.

Sassy Scrappers challenge

Wow! This month's Sassy Scrapper mood board blew me away. It was bold and the images were amazing.

July Moodboard Challenge
I was very taken by the face artwork image and so I tried to focus on recreating that look on my page.

Unfortunately, I look like I want to punch someone (it was my wedding day and it's probably not too far from the truth!). A very stressful day indeed. But this photo showed my hair and veil which is what I wanted to focus on.

The face artwork in the mood board became this cluster in my layout. I painted some chippy red and added Flourish With A Bling rhinestones and small flourishes. I added some beautiful florals and finished with some sequins. I'm very happy with how it turned.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia challenge

Today, I've joined in on a new (for me) challenge - Scrapbooking Top 50 have a sketch up this month and I thought I'd give it a go.

I flipped the sketch to come up with a fun layout.

I used my recently purchased silver thread to machine stitch in a couple of places on the page. I was happy to finally use these very bright blue thickers! I did my journaling on two tags using silver pen but I think it's too shiny and you can barely read it. I really do need to buy a grey, rather than silver, pen for journaling on my pages.

I'm on a little bit of a hand stitching kick at the moment. I hand stitched this gorgeous ampersand which is from an Amy Tangerine embroidery kit.

Thanks for popping in!

Scrapping Outback challenge

Hi again.

The layouts are coming along very nicely, thank you very much! I'm really enjoying the time in my craft space.

This page is for this month's Scrapping Outback challenge. I really like the inspirational pictures as part of the challenge (and you need to include at least one chippy).

I want one of these drinks! Right, back to scrapbooking....Here is my take on the image...

I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist as well as gelatos to colour the gorgeous feather chippys.

I also love using skinny tape - I only have four of them! They are from Close To My Heart and they are solid colours which is lovely.

Now, about this embroidered feather. This embellishment is the one reason the layout took me FOREVER to finish. I have one of the Amy Tangerine embroidery kits but I don't use them often. I attempted the feather and boy, it was tricky to do. I started twice over :/ But I was determined! And I love the outcome. Don't you?!

I really enjoyed using these colours. They were a mix of dark yellows, orange-but-quite-orange, corals and light reds. A really interesting combination.

Until next time :)

Sketchy Boards Challenge

Hi everyone!

I've been catching up on my scrapbooking lately and I'm very happy with that :)

I've joined in with Sketchy Boards Challenge this month and their inspiration is lovely.

And here is my take...

I've used very subtle papers, something I don't normally do anymore. I love using gold doilies - care of D-Lish Scraps. I framed the photo in an oval frame chippy that I embossed with gold.

I pulled out from my stash a small supply of metal embellishments. They are definitely not used very often. I added this gorgeous metal key to the flowers cluster.

Thanks for popping by :)

Kraft Plus Challenge

I love the current challenge over at Kraft+. An inspirational picture and a splash of paint. Awesome.

I don't often use Kraft as a background so this is always a good challenge to do. I like to try different things and see what sticks :)

And this is my take....

I began with yellow acrylic paint mixed with texture paste and smeared it on the background. Then I watered it down and splattered it over the page. I don't do messy very well but I think it came up a treat :)

I stuck with the monochromatic look, inspired by the picture, with a hint of gold and white here and there.

I was particularly taken by the white love heart in the inspirational picture, so I was very bold and used white paint to doodle a messy heart on the page.

I really enjoyed creating this page. It came together pretty quickly. I finished it off with a few enamel dots and some hashtags stickers. 'Cos you doesn't like a good hashtag :)
